First Impression:
I think it has something to do with digital persona.
Quote:
"Donald Trump, while trashing Senator Lindsey Graham on live TV, gives out Graham’s private cell phone number"
Reflection Proper:
The digital world is a big place to play around. One can do a lot of stuff he cannot do before just because it is digital. The digital world has boomed into something large that it is hard to contain. Many has utilize this for broadcast their opinion. Other use it for the local news and some international news. Being online in the digital world has made a small man into a big man without chains. People do realize that sometimes, they publish or say stuff online that they would not do personally. The online world gave people false courage and this can ruin one's life.
Given that sometimes people make mistakes and is published online, the news can block it just like how Trump gave away Graham's cellphone number on live TV. By doing that, I believe it is not a wise thing that he did it so does the other people who censored the cellphone number of the said senator. The people who censored this are called the editors and they give judgement to what should be published and should not. True there should be advisers and editors to people like Trump who is a public figure, but the editors are the ones who check if it should be published.
Now, we as normal people who do not have a public image still do need to keep in check if we are publishing sensitive information or even sensitive topics be cause in the digital world like what the article stated, "we are all publishers".
5 Things That I've learned:
Donald Trump has a Senator's private cellphone number.
Lindsey Graham is a Senator.
Nick Denton is a CEO.
Gawker Media is a publishers.
Gawker Media published a CFO and gay porn actor's relationship.
5 Integrative Questions:
What is personal information?
What does the editors do?
How will we make ourselves safe from publishing unnecessary?
How will the government make sure our personal information is kept from publishers?
How will these media become more ethical?
