Cyber Damnation

First Impressions:

I think the article is about a war on a new field of battle on a new front (the web).

Though no blood is shed in cyber warfare, the damage can be catastrophic, and the threat to the U.S. grows daily.

Reflection Proper:

The article gave me numerous insights on the world we live today. There is a new battle field for war and that is the cyber realm. Yes, this would mean less death but not really… The effect of cyber war can be catastrophic because all the weapons, appliance and most of the things we use today is connected to the internet. If someone were to hack the nuclear power plant, all of a sudden one city will be erased from the face of the earth. If someone were to hack the disease control center, just like this we have a pandemic on the way. Just thinking of all the possible ways we can be attacked… Millions if not billion can be killed in an instance.

The truth is this is not a new issue. Just based on all the movies that depict cyber crimes, one can easily imagine it happening in real life, and the fact is this war is barely on the news, just shows how serious it is. People cannot and should not be aware of the amount of information, codes, control, money and etc that is being stolen because this will cause a world wide panic. And if the world panics, the whole cycle of life is destroyed. People who panic do not think straight and start to imagine things beyond that which is real. This is a disaster waiting to happen, and its all happening in the dark. All we can do is pray and wait in fear for the upcoming events to unfold.

5 Things That I've learned:

That cyber war exist not only in the US but all over the world.

The effects of cyber war.

That there are no rules governing over the cyber world.

That we need to have rules and regulations in the cyber world and all the major countries have to sign it for it to be effective.

That most military weapons are now being controlled via the net.

5 Integrative Questions:

What is cyber war?

What is the effect on the public?

How can we regulate the cyber world?

How can we effectively apply those regulations?

How hacking can affect the fate of this world?
